Sakhi Kendra is a Non-Governmental Organisation founded in 1982 under the able leadership of Ms. Neelam Chaturvedi, intending to empower women and establish gender equality in society. In its 38 years of journey, Sakhi Kendra has dedicatedly worked and has achieved immeasurable milestones.
Here's a brief glimpse of our work in the form of this documentary.
WHY WOMEN AND GIRLS?
“It is vain to expect virtue from women till they are in some degree independent of men.” – Mary Wollstonecraft
Sakhi kendra focuses on empowering women and girls because they are predominantly affected by poverty and discrimination; and suffer exploitation, abuse and violations when exercising their rights, entitlements and desiring access and control over resources. Over many years fighting for gender equality we at Sakhi Kendra have experienced that, when equipped with the proper resources and awareness, women not only have the power to help the entire family but they can also help communities overcome poverty, marginalisation and social injustice.
